Today I read a meme that said “you haven’t met all the people that are going to love you yet”. I sure hope that is true for absolutely everyone reading this and as a woman that owns a gun store I have no doubt that’s true, I probably haven’t even met them all for this week! The same goes for firearms and accessories and everything else in the shooting world. I sure hope I have not met everything that I need to bring home, makes life a little easier or just makes me smile.

With handguns my true love is a CZ Shadow 2 9mm, I think that is the sexiest gun ever made. The shape and the color of the grips are completely drool worthy. As much as I can keep thinking I need one-my small little hands just can’t grip it well enough to be comfortable so it will forever remain my crush.

Love at first sight for me was a Ruger Wrangler .22 that came in with a grey cerekote finish and wood grips. That one came home with me without a second thought and I think will forever be my favourite handgun.

When it comes to traditional hunting rifles for me it still goes back to my dads Remington 742 30-06. That’s my favourite and I don’t think I’ll waver off of that. We just got in a Weatherby Camilla .308 which was designed for the build of a woman, it’s definitely a close second. Sometimes it’s fun to give other flavours a try but I always come back to my favourite and this will always be it for me.

For the fun ones the non-restricted Ruger PC carbine 9mm and Kodiak Defence WK-180’s in .223 or 7.62x39 are a ball! They’re the bad boys of the firearm world, everyone wants one because the look mean and scary-but they’re secretly really sweet when you get to know them. I sell an average one of each per day and I do my best to keep them in stock at all times.

One of the best things about firearms is they don’t depreciate a whole lot from new to used. See what is available, do your research and pick out some you think you might like. Then come on in to the store and hold and feel them and decide which one you like best. Sometimes in matters of the heart we choose wrong, it happens to us all, but you can always change your mind. Think of how much a night at the movies or dinner out costs-that’s about all you will lose to trade your choice on something new if you don’t like it in the end.

Everyone has their likes and dislikes and every single firearm that comes in with a grey laminate stock does not need to come home with me-but most do-they’re like a cologne that I just can’t resist! I have been in love with many in the past and am sure there will be many more in the future. That’s totally fine-firearms don’t care one bit and never get jealous if you get a new one or keep going back to your favorite. Sell some, trade some and buy some as often as you choose and in the words of one of my favourite childhood movies Practical Magic: “fall in love whenever you can.”
