When things don’t work out, pick yourself up-dust yourself off, and try his friends. That’s how the saying goes isn’t it? This saying just has to be talking about hunting. I can’t tell you the number of times I have passed up a deer or had someone else get the deer I had been watching for months just to have another even better one come along. Just last year in turkey season I missed the opportunity to get a jake when two came in side by side and my dad took one but for some reason I hesitated on mine. I kicked myself for hesitating but just didn’t feel I had a good enough shot so I didn’t take it. However after two days of wishing I had pulled that trigger a tom twice the size of that jake came smashing out of the bush and he now lives on the wall at Oley’s Armoury. So if I hadn’t passed up the first one I wouldn’t have one of my best life stories of shooting a turkey out of a hot tub with a nice warm drink first thing in the morning watching a movie on Netflix. Last spring every single hen decoy in the country was already sold so I borrowed a hen decoy, put out the two jakes I did find, borrowed calls from my dad and hoped for the best. This year I was able to bring in turkey box and slate calls to sell in the store. I have also been able to bring in some 12-gauge turkey rounds as hard as they were find too. The selection of shotguns has expanded to at least twice of what it was last year and if we don’t have what you need and it’s available from a supplier we will order it. Depending on which supplier a product comes from, it takes a few days to a few weeks to arrive. As the store expands and demand increases so does the variety of products in the store but we will always bring in more special order items than what you see on the racks or website-just ask! When a round of ammo doesn’t pattern or work in your gun as expected-try another one. When your gun doesn’t feel right or do what you want it to-try another one. It’s simply a fact of hunting-if you don’t try other things- you might miss out on something better than you expected.
