What do you get a hunter for Christmas?
Christmas is under a month away and not everyone does their Christmas shopping in the day or two before the big day like me, so here are some hunter friendly ideas for Christmas for those that shop early.
- Tarps- It is a family tradition that my grandma gets all the boys (and me) tarps for Christmas, then we call her during the year and tell her what dead thing it was used to transport home. I think she does it because she enjoys the phone calls later and then getting to tell her friends the stories. Tarps are the best because you can always use one for something.
- Tie Down Straps-Is there anyone that doesn’t like new tie-down straps? They’re like a new toothbrush or new sheets. No one likes the old ones that are all seized up and bite when you try to free them up. New tie-down straps are great and no you can never have enough.
- Hot pads- Maybe others don’t go though as many of these as I do (a dozen in a day of hunting is pretty normal for me) but wow are they amazing. Especially if you get wet or really cold hot pads are a great gift for anyone spending time in the outdoors.
- Ammunition- .22 cartridges are a great starting point. Almost everyone has a .22 and for the most part every gun will fire a decent quality .22 cartridge. Hours and hours of fun come with a brick of .22 cartridges.
- Gun Cleaning- What about a certificate to get your family members favorite gun cleaned in an ultrasonic tank. And we just happen to have one of the only ones in the are at Oley’s in Powassan. That thing is like Grandma Oley looking for fish scales- one little piece of dirt somewhere and it finds it. This prolongs the life of your gun and ensures it functions when you want it to.
- Gift Certificate- When all else fails go with the trusty gift certificate, maybe for their favorite gun store??? Then your hunter can put it towards exactly what they want.
In the end no matter what gift it is that you get a hunter, you are giving them something that will create many years of memories.
